Before being placed in a class in September, all continuing students must complete the requirements of the previous year. This includes regular class attendance or completion of homeschool work, homework for Grades 7 – 10 and Christian service hours.

Requirements for First Grade and children new to the program:

If your child was not baptized at Saint Patrick Parish, registrations for First Grade must include a copy of the child’s Baptismal certificate from the parish where he or she was baptized.  Please mail or drop off a copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate to the Religious Education Office at 71 Central Street, Stoneham, MA 02180.

Without a Baptismal certificate, your child cannot receive the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion or Confirmation. If your child was not baptized, please contact us to make arrangements for him or her to receive the sacrament.

Requirements for children returning to the program:

If your child is returning to our program after attending religious education classes at a different parish, you must provide documentation from that parish stating that your child successfully completed the religious education requirements for the grades he or she was away.

If your child is returning to religious education after having missed one or more years of instruction, you may register to have him or her complete a maximum of three grades in one year through our homeschool program. While we do not recommend this as a best practice, it will enable your child to catch up to grade level so that he or she may enter the Confirmation program with his or her peers. Please contact our office for more information about the procedure and cost of registering your child for multiple grades in one year.

Confirmation Registration Requirements:

Grade 8 and Grade 9 students must pass an exam before being admitted into our Confirmation I and II programs respectively. Entrance into either program will be placed on hold until this requirement is met.

Attending a Catholic High School for Grade 9 is regarded as equivalent to completing the Confirmation I program only. For Confirmation II (Grade 10), ALL students must register to attend classes at the parish if they wish to be Confirmed at Saint Patrick.

Please note that in addition to the registration fee there is an additional fee of $75 for Confirmation II. Confirmation II students will not be assigned to a Confirmation Ceremony until all fees are paid.
