Important! Confirmation Information
Dear Parents,
We are now in the home stretch! Confirmation is less than one week away! Please read the following carefully for important information about the upcoming Confirmation rehearsal & ceremony.
Lectors:
We need your help to make your child’s Confirmation Mass special!
If your child is comfortable with public speaking, please ask him or her to volunteer to be a lector at Mass. We reserve pews only for family members of candidates who volunteer to do a reading at Mass.
If your child is willing to do a reading, please email us at staff@stpatreled.org by Monday, April 29th, with your child’s name, Mass time, and the number of family members & friends who are attending.
You can also let us know if there is a particular reading he or she would like to do, but we cannot guarantee it will be available. We need candidates to read the Introduction, 1st Reading, 2nd Reading, and Prayers of the Faithful.
Other Jobs:
If you child is too shy to read, but would still like to participate, we also need candidates to volunteer to bring up the Gifts during the Offertory.
Finally, if someone in your family is an Altar Server or Eucharistic Minister at Saint Patrick Parish and is able to help in any of these capacities, please email us as above.
Rehearsal
- Rehearsal for the 12 PM Mass is Wednesday, May 1 at 6:30 PM.
- Rehearsal for the 4 PM Mass is Thursday, May 2 at 6:30 PM.
Please make every effort to make sure both the candidate and his or her sponsor attend the appropriate rehearsal! If one or the other cannot be present, a parent may attend in their place. It is very important that at least one person from your family attend the rehearsal!
Candidates will receive their robes on the night of the Rehearsal. We could use a few parents to help distribute them to make things go faster, so if you were planning to attend the rehearsal with your child & his or her sponsor, please let us know if you can help. Plan to spend 5-10 minutes to try them on to be sure the length is appropriate. Every year we have to swap a few.
Confirmation Mass Information
Sponsors & candidates should report to Our Lady of Providence Hall 30 minutes before your assigned Mass time.
If you wish to get a good seat in the church for your family, please plan to arrive early, since there is no reserved seating unless your child is a lector or you have requested a special pew for a family member who is disabled.
The Confirmation Mass lasts between 1:30 hrs – 1:45 hrs. Plan extra time if you wish to take a picture with Bishop Peter. Given the number of candidates, Bishop Peter has asked that each family take only ONE photo with him, but as many people can be in it as you wish.
After Mass be sure your candidate picks up his/her Confirmation certificate.
Missing Paperwork
We are still missing a few Saint reports and Bishops Letters! Please be sure to turn these in ASAP. Brenna will text the number on file with a reminder that your child’s is missing.
Bishop Letters:
Please turn these in by MONDAY at 10 AM. They can be put in an envelope with your child’s name and Bishop Letter on it and put through our Mail Slot. Please be sure your letter is typed, has a date, a greeting (Dear Bishop Uglietto,) a typed signature line and a hand written signature. You may also email me a PDF or Photo of this letter. Bishop Peter does read these so please proof for spelling and grammar and present your best self.
Saint Report
You can write your saint report on any saint…it doesn’t have to be your Confirmation Name saint. It should be between 1-3 paragraphs in length. Please turn in by your Rehearsal day.
Best,
Religious Education Staff
