Preparation for the Sacraments of First Communion and First Reconciliation is a two-year program, beginning in Grade 1. The Eucharist in one of the three Sacraments of Initiation in the Roman Catholic Church. It completes the incorporation begun in Baptism and Confirmation. In the Eucharist, Christ becomes food that sustains us as we grow in discipleship. The Eucharist always represents a new beginning, the constant renewal of the life of Christ within us. During his public life, Jesus welcomed everyone into his presence. Despite objections, he welcomed children, outcasts, and sinners. The Church that Jesus founded strives to follow Jesus’ example as a welcoming community.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is central to following Jesus, for he devoted his life to the forgiveness of sin. He always forgave people their sins because it was integral to his mission. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is also central to being members of the Christian community, for there can be no love and peace within the community of believers if there is not forgiveness among us.
